Questions regarding the combined program should be directed to the Director of Undergraduate Programs, Mr. Richard Sponaugle (rspona1@umbc.edu). These courses count towards both degrees; Therefore, at least 21 additional credits are required for the Master`s degree. For more information on MS requirements, visit the online MS section of this website or visit the Graduate School Catalog. Upon admission to the combined program, the student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. In all courses taken after admission, no more than two C grades can be achieved. If the GPA falls below 3.0 or if more than two «C» grades are obtained, the student will be removed from the combined program. This does not affect the student`s eligibility for the BS degree under the university`s normal undergraduate requirements. Each «D» or «F» also results in the withdrawal of the combined program. The following online vendor configuration pages list systems that meet the minimum system requirements. These provider configurations are suggested as examples. As a result, the Department does not set a preference for one particular supplier over others. The tracks in the program allow you to focus on a sought-after area of interest while receiving excellent training in information systems.

Professors making a recommendation should send an email to the Director of the Undergraduate Program, M.
Richard Sponaugle (rspona1@umbc.edu), indicating how they know the candidate and why they think the candidate is a good candidate for the combined program. The Director of Undergraduate Programs reviews the application and makes a recommendation to the IS Graduate Program Director, who makes the admission decision. Students are notified of the decision, and the graduate school is also notified when a student is accepted. This assumption is made exclusively by the ISIS department; The student must always apply officially and be accepted by the graduate school to complete the master`s part of the program. The application deadlines for combined programs are December 15 and May 15. Before a student is allowed to take the IS 410 and 450 core courses (and then the rest of the IS 400 level core courses), they must first meet the following bridging requirements: The IS department offers two on-campus MS degrees and a full online MS degree. All programs are designed for IT and information systems professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge and experience in the field of information systems or human-centric computing (HCC). These programs may also be of interest to individuals whose academic background is not in a computer science or information systems discipline, but who meet the department`s admission requirements. Candidates for the combined program must have completed the IS Portal and be enrolled in IS 410 before applying for the combined program.
Students should be aware of the current requirements for admission to the department`s graduate master`s programs so that they can take courses that meet the same or their equivalents. Applicants must have completed or have these courses in progress before applying to the BS/MS program. To successfully complete the program, all students must meet the general educational requirements outlined in the UMBC Undergraduate Catalog. There are also several special courses, including IS 399, IS 478, IS 479, IS 469, IS 397, and IS 467, which cannot be used to complete the higher-level IS elective course, but which students can use to earn academic credits for internships, cooperatives, and research projects. Contact your advisor for more information. Examples of higher-level electives that could be used to meet key SI requirements include: IS 303, IS 304, IS 460, IS 461, IS 427, IS 428, IS 430, IS 438, IS 464, IS 471, IS 472, IS 451U, IS 451M and IS 452 and others (see catalogue for a complete list). Students should be aware of the current requirements for admission to the department`s graduate master`s programs so that they can take courses that meet the same or their equivalents.
The current admission requirement for the Master`s program in Online Information Systems is a GPA 3.0. From fall 2013: All information systems majors must take at least 9 high-level courses in IS and management taught by UMBC`s ISIS department. In collaboration with our colleagues in the Office of Professional Programs, the IS department offers two MPS programs. These applied programs will help you target your career with in-demand skills and knowledge. The Master`s program in Business Informatics accepts students for the fall and spring semesters. We recommend that you submit all required documents as soon as possible, as we often have to limit applications due to lack of space. The application deadlines are as follows: Here are some examples of laptops that meet the recommended configuration: Students must achieve a grade of «C» or better for a course that can be applied to the Information Systems major. Starting in fall 2020, all students will be required to own a laptop. The IS department recommends the following computer hardware configuration. Minimum hardware requirements are also listed. These configurations strictly follow the recommendations of DoIT and are necessary for the proper functioning of the software used in our courses.
Course descriptions can be found in the course catalogue. To participate in this program, a student must have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.2 or higher at UMBC and all other institutions attended. This is a minimum requirement, and achieving a GPA of 3.2 does not guarantee admission to the combined program. The admission decision is determined individually, taking into account the student`s past achievements, expected future performance, and the extent to which the combined program would meet the student`s educational goals. Students interested in the BS/MS program should discuss their interest with a department advisor as early as the second year. A student must apply for admission to the program in the first semester of the junior year. This will be the semester following the semester in which 60 credits were earned for the BS degree. Designed for people with and without a tech background, our STEM program can help you join or advance in the growing tech field.
