If you are going through an uncontested divorce (i.e. You and your spouse agree on how to divide your property and share time with your children), and then SLS can represent you during the case. If your divorce is contested, SLS may not be able to represent you in court, but it can help you negotiate and find other resources. Figuring out if you need a protection order can be scary. Our office helps make the registration process less overwhelming by answering your questions and concerns. However, if the person you wish to obtain a protection order against is a current student at UW-Seattle, we limit ourselves to explaining the process and providing you with resources. An articling student working under the supervision of one of our lawyers will be your main point of contact for the office. Our lawyers supervise all aspects of our articling students` work, and your articling student will only act in your case with your permission and with the consent of their supervising lawyer. Protecting your immigration status is a priority for most students. Student Legal Services are available to assist eligible University of Washington students on a variety of immigration matters, including DACA matters, adjustment of status, the consequences of criminal convictions in immigration matters, citizenship, domestic issues, employment-based immigration, and family immigration issues. Our office is funded by the student activity fee (we receive approximately $9 from each student) which was charged along with tuition and other fees on your scholarship bill.
