Outstanding academic achievement, relevant international experience and/or extracurricular activities, strong interpersonal skills, references and demonstrated professional potential and interest in public service are important factors in the selection process. Only U.S. citizens are considerate. We recognize that many students are eager to share the summer leading up to their third year between two employers in order to broaden their involvement in the practice of law. As a result, L is flexible when it comes to allowing students to schedule their internship at any time between May and September, with at least six consecutive weeks, although L may require summer interns to start on one of the few start dates indicated during the summer.

Interns do not receive salaries from the U.S. government and the U.S. government does not cover any of their personal expenses. The goal of the program is to provide you with first-hand experience of the World Bank`s day-to-day operations by working closely with the staff of the Legal Vice Presidency. The World Bank`s Legal Internship Program enables individuals to bring new perspectives, innovative ideas, and the latest research experiences to the day-to-day operations of the World Bank and enhance their legal skills while working in a multicultural environment. That`s exactly what the ministry`s Summer Law Internship Program (SLIP) has to offer. SLIP is the competitive recruitment program of the Paid Summer Internship Department. Law students who participate in SLIP benefit from exceptional legal experience and invaluable contacts with the Department of Justice. Articling students represent diverse backgrounds and interests and come from various law schools across the country. L typically selects approximately 15 highly qualified second-year law students to participate in its summer internship program. The summer program offers students interested in public service and international law the opportunity to learn about L`s work as well as the department (and demonstrate their legal and interpersonal skills and insight). Summer students are usually assigned two offices to ensure that they become as familiar as possible with the various facets of L practice within the allotted time.

Country office internship: The Legal Vice-Presidency has limited its on-site internships to offices where a lawyer from the Legal Vice-Presidency is present. Selection process: World Bank articling students are selected through a selection process. The World Bank Group is committed to equal opportunity. The World Bank Legal Internship Program is offered three times a year for up to three months at World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C. and selected country offices for currently enrolled law students. The Department will update the candidate`s status online to post the selection for review of a job similar to the selection for an interview. The online status also indicates which component(s) selected the candidate in the «Selected by» column. For space reasons, a code is used for each component. Not all components conduct interviews and those that usually interview by telephone. Components contact SLIP candidates independently to schedule interviews if desired. If you are selected for a job under the leaflet or if a component has contacted you for an interview, consult the component`s contact list and component-specific requirements.

Questions regarding submissions or interviews should be directed to the appropriate contact person. Please use your Google Account to access the application form. If you don`t have a Google Account yet, this link will prompt you to create one for free. Every year, various U.S. components and lawyers hire students through SLIP.
